STORAGE TIPS

FOLLOW THESE STORAGE TIPS RECOMMENDED BY BIG BOX AND ENSURE YOUR PROPERTY IS NEVER SCUFFED OR DAMAGED!

Plan accordingly as you load and pack your storage unit. It’s best to ensure that you place the items needed on a regular basis near the space entrance as well as allowing for walk space to retrieve items in the rear of the space.

When packing individual boxes, be sure to place the heaviest items on the bottom of the box.

Stacking boxes is much easier if you use same-sized boxes.

Important to properly label every box to ensure easy item retrieval.

It’s best to leave a slight space between your storage items and the wall of the storage unit to allow for proper ventilation.

To avoid a build-up of moisture between items, pack boxes and other items as close together as possible.

Use a quality lock, preferably a "disc lock", for your storage unit. Disc locks are known to be much more difficult to cut.

Create complete inventory list of all items in your storage unit and keep it in a safe place.

Using uniform size boxes will provide for easier stacking and will further allow for a greater maximization of space.

Identify the contents of each box by clearly writing such the names of the contents on each side of each box.

When stacking boxes, place the heaviest on the bottom and the lightest on the top.

Ceramics, dishes, glasses should be individually wrapped in packing paper and placed in suitable boxes.

All large pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in mirror crates and marked "fragile."

Maximize storage space by using the drawers of furniture for knickknacks, china, silverware and small items.

Tables with removable legs should be disassembled in order to save space.

Couches can be stored on end to save floor space. Always place a protective vinyl cover under the end that is exposed to the floor. To further protect the piece of furniture, cushions should be wrapped in plastic and placed on top.

Protect all stuffed furniture with a dust cover to protect against any dust.

If you stand any mattresses on their ends, be sure to prop them up so that they will stand upright. Otherwise they may bend out of shape and/or become lumpy.
